How would you like some nice soul gems and shoulder pieces crafted from the remains of slain monsters? You would? Well, if you’re a warrior at or near level 45 in The Elder Scrolls Online, you’re in luck. Update 5 for Zenimax Online Studios’ MMORPG introduces the Undaunted Pledges system, which sees the titular NPC guild hand out dungeon quests to warriors who make it to level 45 without taking an arrow to the knee, and offers special loot as a reward.
The armed potholers who keep you company in many of TESO’s dungeons are found at new enclaves near capital cities since Update 5 came live. From here they’ll contact players with commissions to tidy up some of Tamriel’s “most dangerous localesâ€.
One dungeon pledge can be completed per day, with optional side-objectives for better loot, before you can return to the enclave to collect a key of bronze, silver or gold, depending on your performance. These open chests with corresponding levels of rewards, from ornate-level items to unique item sets, but to get the best rewards you’re going to need to complete all those optional objectives, which may require a little help from your burliest allies.
Undaunted pledges come at non-Veteran level difficulty for those at level 45 and up, and also at Veteran difficulty once you reach Veteran Rank 1. Next year’s Update 6 promises yet more intriguing game systems such as NPC murder and pickpocketing, but in the meantime, who’s ready to clear out some caves? The Rabbit of Caerbannog and The Legendary Black Beast of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh await… (Hopefully).
The Elder Scrolls Online is available on PC. An Xbox One and Playstation 4 launch is expected in 2015.
