The 14-day trial allows users to play to a maximum level of twenty with certain limitations on available in-game activities, although characters can be transferred to the full game if players choose to upgrade after the taster.
A Realm Reborn launched on PC and PS3 in August 2013 and on PS4 in April 2014. CVG’s Final Fantasy XIV PS4 review called the title “the best Final Fantasy game in years and the finest MMO you can currently play on a console”.
The first expansion for A Realm Reborn, titled Heavensward, was announced in October. Set for release in spring 2015, it will introduce a new playable race, add brand-new jobs and increase the level cap to 60, among other features.
